Physical chemistry is used to understand how skincare cosmetics work, such as how they absorb into the skin and how they interact with the skin’s natural oils. For example, the viscosity of a moisturizer is an important physical property that determines how easily it is applied to the skin.

Analytical Chemistry

Analytical chemistry is the study of the identification and quantification of the different ingredients in skincare cosmetics. Analytical chemistry is used to ensure that skincare cosmetics meet safety and quality standards. For example, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in a moisturizer is an important quality control parameter.

Biophysics

Biophysics is the study of the interactions between physical phenomena and biological systems. Biophysics is used to study the interactions between skincare cosmetics and the skin. For example, the penetration of sunscreen into the skin is a biophysics process.

The use of chemistry in skincare cosmetics is a complex and ever-evolving field. As our understanding of chemistry and the skin improves, new and innovative skincare cosmetics will continue to be developed.
